Do Visível e do Invisível

The Embassy of Mexico in Portugal brought The Visible and the Invisible, an exhibition of photographs and books by the Mexican artist Ivonne Murillo to the National Museum for Natural History and Science in Lisbon.

Apart from 29 photographs, the exhibition also showcased 10 artist books by Murillo, including images and words. Through tactile sensations, printed on paper, where the absence of ink obliges readers to get physically close to the text, not only to read and understand it but also to touch and discover textures and forms through the light and shadows of the engravings, these books make it possible to discover unexpected visual universes, which are ever present but hidden to an indifferent gaze.

This exhibition of Artist Books brought together singular pieces of artwork objects, which are part of prestigious collections such as the Tate Britain Gallery in London.
