Habitar a Escuridão

One can inhabit darkness, just like one can inhabit the light. But the advantages and privileges are on the side of the light: the clarity to be able to gaze slowly at a beloved profile, the miracle of colours which blend together and then merge anew, the glory of choosing: I like green.” (Julio Scherer Garcia, Mexican journalist and writer)

Inhabiting Darkness is a project by the Mexican photographer Marco Antonio Cruz comprising 50 Black & White photos taken between 1977 and 2005 regarding numerous cases of blindness, combining glimpses of the everyday life of the visually impaired in Mexico with the artistic and social sensitivity of one of Mexico’s best known documental photographers.
