Black Light

The exhibition Black Light, by Brazilian photographer Robério Braga, takes us on a beautiful journey in black and white through East Africa, revealing everyday cultural aspects of three tribes – the Maasai, Pokot and Samburu – from Kenya and Tanzania, countries through which the photographer travelled between 2011 and 2012.

Robério uses a technique of underexposure in these photographs, basing light readings on the ornaments and not on the skin of his subjects, resulting in a unique play of contrasts.

After presentation at the Sound and Image Museum (MIS) in São Paulo, and at the Carlos Costa Pinto Museum in Salvador da Bahia, the exhibition Black Light was received in Portugal by the D. Luís I FoundationCentro Cultural de Cascais.

The opening in Cascais was attended by Robério Braga and Carlos Carreiras – Mayor of Cascais.
