The National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago hosts the exhibition Frida Kahlo – Her Photos until August 7, 2022. The exhibition opened on April 1 with the presence of Carlos Tortolero, director and co-founder of the NMMA, Perla Labarthe, General Coordinator of the Frida Kahlo and Anahuacalli Museums, and Carla Barri, a representative from the Bank of Mexico, and with great support from the local public. 

Located in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, the National Museum of Mexican Art is a cultural institution that showcases and celebrates the art and culture of the Mexican people. Originally planned for 2020, the opening to the public of Frida Kahlo – Her Photos takes place at a key moment when the museum in person cultural activities are resumed after a long period of suspension caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Curated by renowned photographer, curator and historian of photography in Mexico, Pablo Ortiz Monasterio, the exhibition reveals parts of the personal history of Frida Kahlo and her family, her country and her time. It is a panorama composed of 241 photographs that allows us to discover new facets of one of the most emblematic artists of the 20th century. 

In August 2022, it will be the turn of the Museum Of The Southwest in Midland, Texas, to host the exhibition.
