Hollywood Icons Photographs from the John Kobal Foundation

Hollywood Icons – Photographs from the John Kobal Foundation, curated by Robert Dance and Simon Crocker, guides us into a journey to the golden age of Hollywood in 161 photographs, focusing on the stars who attracted crowds to the cinemas at the time, but also on those working behind the camera to create the glamorous images that led them to fame.

Featuring the biggest stars of each period, from the 20s to the 60s, Hollywood Icons also includes a room dedicated to photographers and the process of creating stars, a real “assembly line” for the manufacture of entertainment, glamor and fame.

The exhibition features works by great masters of photography among them George Hurrell, Clarence Sinclair Bull, Laszlo WillingerTed AllanEugene Robert RicheeErnest Bachrach and Ruth Harriet Louise.

The exhibition also presents a section dedicated to John Kobal (1940 – 1991), one of the most respected historians of cinema and creator of the Foundation with his name from where this collection of photographs comes.
