Everybody Knows This is Nowhere Fotografias de Alexandra Hedison

Alexandra Hedison (b. 1969) is a contemporary photographer from Los Angeles, USA, whose work focuses on direct encounters between individuals and the immensity of landscapes, both architectural and natural, with a highly unique style which makes her photographs stand out from a certain American photographic tradition which prioritises portraits and the depiction of social movements.

Her most personal work to date is this beautiful collection of photographs, produced over a four-year period (2008-2012), entitled Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. The 32 photographs and several film installations of the exhibition, record the shifting ground beneath the beach houses where Hedison spent her childhood in Malibu, California. The combination between technique and temporality invites the public to join Hedison on this journey narrating a story which is inevitably altered by the seasons of the year and by the weather.

After its inauguration at the Diane Rosenstein Fine Art gallery (in Beverly Hills, USA) in 2012, the exhibition will make its first international appearance at the Centro Cultural de Cascais. This will also be the first time that the distinguished artist presents her work in Portugal.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by photographer Alexandra Hedison and her wife, Jodie Foster.
