Terra Esplêndida was responsible for the media relations of the exhibition “Rodney Smith – The Alchemy of Light”, which was on display at the Centro Cultural de Cascais from March 1 to May 25, 2025. The exhibition presented more than a hundred works by the American photographer, renowned for his balance of surrealism, style, and elegance.

Over more than 45 years of his career, Rodney Smith collaborated with publications such as The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and W Magazine, in addition to creating fashion campaigns for internationally prestigious brands. His images, evocative of René Magritte’s paintings, cemented his status as an essential figure in contemporary photography.

Meticulously constructed, his compositions transported audiences to realms between reality and fantasy. Captured on film, lit with natural light, and never retouched, Smith’s photographs remain timeless, reflecting a unique artistic vision that continues to inspire museums, collectors, and photography enthusiasts around the world.
