Exhibition “Meu Nome António” at MUDE, co-produced by TE

The exhibition Meu Nome António opened on 3 December 2025 at MUDE – Museum of Design, in Lisbon, presenting 85 photographs of António Variações (1944–1984), taken by Teresa Couto Pinto between 1981 and 1983. The images, some of them previously unseen, reveal intimate and performative moments of the artist, documenting the construction and affirmation of his visual and artistic identity.

Terra Esplêndida, which has been collaborating with the photographer in the preservation and valorization of this photographic archive, was part of the team responsible for the conception and installation of the exhibition.

The selection brings together portraits, photographic essays and other records that highlight the closeness between Teresa Couto Pinto and António Variações, as well as the role of photography as a space for experimentation. Curated by Bárbara Coutinho, director of MUDE, Meu Nome António also includes clothing and personal objects belonging to the musician.

The opening event was attended by Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon, who underlined the significance of António Variações in Portuguese culture and the exhibition’s contribution to the city’s cultural landscape.

The exhibition is open to the public from 4 December 2025 to 26 April 2026, in the Sala dos Cofres (floor -1) at MUDE.
