Meu Nome António Closes with 37,104 Visitors

The exhibition Meu Nome António – Fotografias de Teresa Couto Pinto 1981–1983 closed at MUDE – Museu do Design, in Lisbon, on May 31, 2026, the date to which it had been extended. Co-produced by MUDE and Terra Esplêndida, with curatorial direction by Bárbara Coutinho, the museum’s director, the show welcomed 37,104 visitors over the course of its run, reaffirming the enduring interest that António Variações‘ work and public persona continue to inspire across generations.

To mark the closing, MUDE hosted, on May 29, 2026, a multidisciplinary debate moderated by Bárbara Coutinho, bringing together historian Raquel Varela, designer Gonçalo Falcão, sociologist Cristina L. Duarte, critic Nuno Galopim, and artist Leonel Moura to explore, from different perspectives, the complexity of Variações’ work and public persona, and his lasting impact on Portuguese culture and pop music.
