Africa: See You, See Me!

At the request of Africa.Cont, and exclusively using long distance technologies to communicate with New York (email, skype and telephone), TE developed the exhibition Africa: See You, See Me!, curated by Awam Amkpa, a Nigerian playwright, former drama professor at King Alfred’s University College, who is currently an associate professor at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Africa: See You, See Me! portrays the history of African photography and its influence on non-African views of Africa as well as the mindset of the African diaspora, in all its diversity. Together, the photographs constitute a textual body of African subjectivities as well as a historic and social archive, whose methods and preparations helped understand how images contribute towards emancipation.
