Coco Chanel Beyond Fashion

The Coco Chanel, Beyond Fashion exhibition, a first for Portugal, was presented at the Centro Cultural de Cascais between July 20 and November 3, 2024.

In this exhibition, part of the trajectory of the incomparable French fashion designer is told through her personal photographs, works of art – representative of the artistic avant-garde of 20th century Paris – and garments that feature the emblematic camellia, the flower that symbolizes the brand founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel over a century ago and which, to this day, continues to influence the way fashion is thought of and how women dress.

Images of photography greats such as André Kertesz, Man Ray and François Kollar – including some of Chanel’s most iconic portraits and scenes from her legendary apartment at the Ritz Hotel in Paris – share the space of the Centro Cultural de Cascais with works by Salvador Dalí (who designed the bottle for Chanel No. 5 perfume), sculptures by Apel.les Fenosa, paintings by Tamara de Lempicka, Óscar Domínguez and Josep María Sert, and lithographs and aquatints by Pablo Picasso.

TE was responsible for the exhibition’s media relations.
