Hollywood Icons exhibition at the Pallazo delle Esposizione in Rome

The Hollywood Icons – Photographs from the John Kobal Foundation exhibition is on display at the Palazzo delle Esposizione in Rome from 24 June to 17 September 2017. The exhibition presents 161 photographs of the great stars of Hollywood’s golden years (from the 20s to the 60s) and of the photographers responsible for creating the brand image of each of them. The millions of photographs distributed across the Hollywood studios throughout its golden decades were the result of hard, quick and efficient work by the photographic artists, which allowed the great American actors to be promoted around the world.

Curated by Robert Dance and Simon Crocker, both from the John Kobal Foundation, the Hollywood Icons exhibition provides the public with an opportunity to see first-hand the mastery of the great photographers of the history of cinema in the photos on display, which depict and exalt actors as memorable as Charlie Chaplin, Marlene Dietrich, Marlon Brando and Audrey Hepburn. Presenting the most beautiful photographs from the best-known studios, the exhibition is also a journey back to the time when Hollywood manufactured dreams.
