Eldad Rafaeli The Way to the High Mountain

The Centro Português de Fotografia, in Porto, presents The Way to the High Mountain, the first exhibition in Portugal dedicated to the photographic work of the Israeli artist Eldad Rafaeli. The opening took place on March 2nd, with the presence of the artist and the curator Ângela Ferreira.

The Way to the High Mountain presents Rafaeli’s seminal work, revealing some iconographic images from his artistic career spanning almost 40 years, alongside recently produced images, taking the visitor through a journey between light and shadow. Eldad Rafaeli’s photography is an impactful portrait of the complexity of human narratives, permeated by a dialectical tension between life and death.

This is a unique and experimental exhibition, exclusively designed for the Centro Português de Fotografia, thus creating a true immersive experience. The Way to the High Mountain is also the realization of an old dream of the artist to present his work in the historic building of the Porto Prison and Court of Appeal. In his own words, “through the prison metaphor, the viewer is guided on a mental journey from darkness to light”.

Continuing the partnership with the curator and the Centro Português de Fotografia that began with the exhibition Roger Ballen: My Mind is a Cage, the communication of the exhibition was handled by TE.

The digital catalog of the presentation of The Way of the High Mountain at the Centro Português de Fotografia can be consulted here.
