The Cascais Cultural Centre hosted an exhibition entitled Portrait[s] of the Manta Family, curated by Luís Serpa and including works by Abel Manta (Gouveia, 1888-1982), his wife Clementina Carneiro de Moura Manta (Lisbon, 1898-1992), his son João Abel Manta (Lisbon, 1928) and his granddaughter Isabel Manta (Lisbon, 1952).
Comprising over a hundred works by the four artists, forming an apparently eclectic collection, the exhibition revealed a continued dedication to portraits and self-portraits, patterns and colours, and the landscapes that marked the surroundings of each of the artists.
Some of the works cite or appropriate others, in a pastime that reveals familiar similarities in the works on display and the evident dialogue between them.
