Madrid welcomes The Comedy Wildlife

Until September 14, 2025, the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales in Madrid (MNCN) is home to the most amusing photographs from the animal kingdom, reunited at the exhibition “Comedy Wildlife – Premios de Fotografia”.

In the Spanish capital, the exhibition features a selection of around 70 photographs awarded in the 2015 to 2024 editions of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards. The award’s co-founder, photographer Tom Sullam, was present at the opening of the exhibition, which took place on May 27.

Founded in 2015, the competition brings together photographers—both professional and amateur—from around the world, who capture curious and funny moments from wildlife, showcasing dedication, commitment, and (a great amount of) patience. Beyond entertaining the public, the awards and exhibition also aim to raise awareness about crucial topics such as sustainability and nature conservation, drawing attention to the risk of extinction threatening many species.

The exhibition in Madrid is the result of a collaboration between the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales, Afundación – Obra Social de Abanca, and TE – Terra Esplêndida. At the MNCN, the photographs are displayed in dialogue with specimens from the Museum’s collection, integrated into the exhibition in an original and educational way.

More recently, The Comedy Wildlife was also on display in the city of Ourense, Spain. Starting June 7, the exhibition will also arrive in the United States, where it will be hosted at the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, in Springfield, Massachusetts.
