Jason Moore is the winner of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Award in 2023

With his photograph “Air Guitar Roo”, Australian photographer Jason Moore is the Overall Winner of the 2023 edition of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Award, the organization of the award announced on September 23rd. 

“Air Guitar Roo” was chosen from 5,300 submissions from 1,842 photographers, professional and amateur, from 85 nationalities. Captured on the outskirts of Perth, Australia, the photograph, which in addition to the main prize also won the “Creatures of the Land” category, depicts a female Western Gray Kangaroo playing her imaginary guitar in a field of wildflowers. 

Winners in other categories include photographers Vittorio Ricci with the photograph “Unexpected Plunge” (“Creatures of the Air” category) and Otter Kwek with the photograph “Ballerina Otter” (“Under Water” category). The “Portfolio Award” was awarded to Timea Ambrus, for her images of a group of squirrels, and the “Video Award” went to Lily Bernau, for her video “Too Cold”. Young photographer Jacek Stankiewicz won in two categories, “Junior” and “Affinity’s People’s Choice Award”, with his image entitled “Dispute”.

The 40 photographs highlighted in the 2023 edition of the Award become part of the portfolio of images that can be displayed in the exhibition The Comedy Wildlife, an extension of the Award and available for presentations around the world.
